SCCA sues Texas Governor to Stop Anti-Mask Mandate
On August 8, 2021, when few school districts were taking action to protect their students and teachers, SCCA filed for a temporary restraining order. It was granted. For just over two weeks, a statewide restraining order was in effect preventing the Governor and his agents from enforcing the State's anti-mask mandate against independent school districts across Texas.
When the Attorney General appealed, the Texas Supreme Court refused to stop Judge Soifer's statewide TRO.The effort was ultimately derailed by a district court judge in Austin.
While SCCA's victory was short lived, we spent under $1000 to buy parents, teachers, and students some well-deserved peace of mind and hope for the otherside of the pandemic.
